This is an re-exhibition which has been held from August 25th to September 2nd at asto in Tokamachi-city, Niigata prefecture. It will be displayed in August and September devided into two part.
In this second half, we will mainly exhibit the works by PAPAER BRUT and Hiroko Kawashima with some of the works by Hazuki Komatsu and Hideo Takashima.
Tokamachi City, Niigata has inherited various traditional
cultures such as flame-style pottery, dyed textiles, and chinkoro culture in abundant nature.
The works of each creator, expressed in natural materials such as wood, fabric, clay and paper, will meet, resonate and permeate in this exhibition.
-Hiroko Kawashima, creates an abstract shape abundant of narrative elements starting from the wood grain of the trees.
-Hazuki Komatsu, using pottery and old cloth as materials, embodies the inner landscapes.
-Hideo Takashima, creates with pottery clay a unique piece that fuses vessels and living things.
-PAPER BRUT, produces works of paper from growing the raw material plants, straining and dyeing them.
Natural materials such as wood, cloth, clay, and paper are used in different expressions based on their individual roots and perspectives, and are developed as their own activities. From there,
you will find the flexible ideas and commonalities of the creators.
As the evening sky shines red and dyes, the four scenery mixes and gradually permeates the viewer's heart.
This exhibition aims for such an experience.
